Mince Beef Curry Using Jar Sauce

Minced beef curry or ground beef curry with loads of garlic and cooked with coconut milk.

Easy to make and comes together as a one-pot meal in 30-45 minutes.

To make this deeply flavoured minced curry, the ground beef is first sauteed in ginger, garlic, onions, tomatoes peppers and then turmeric, pepper, chilli powder and curry powder to add more deep flavours.

The final stages of adding coconut milk to the minced curry give the keema curry a thick gravy you'll love serving with your favourite carbs.

What to serve with minced beef curry

  • Serve over a bowl of steaming white rice, yellow rice or ghee rice. serve with a green salad for a quick, healthy filling meal.
  • Serve with Sri Lankan paratha roti or egg roti.
  • Serve with any type of Indian flatbread like, poori, stovetop naan bread, no yeast garlic naan are options.
  • Other side dishes to pair with minced beef curry.

    • Yes, you can easily mince beef at home using your food processor. Here are the steps.
    • Any chuck, topside, and brisket are some beef cuts suitable for mincing.
    • Ask your butcher if you are unable to choose which cuts are good for mincing.
    • Remove fat trimmings, and thick tissues from the beef cut using a sharp knife or ask your butcher to do this for you.
    • Avoid removing all of the fat in your beef cut. a little fat while mincing will add flavour to your dishes.
    • Cut the meat chunk into smaller cubes.
    • Place them in a tray and store them in the freezer for 20-30 minutes to freeze.
    • Once frozen, use your food processor to mince the beef cubes in small batches.
    • Use the pulse button to mince the beef. make sure not to over mince the beef.

  • Chopping board and knife.
  • Large frying pan to make the minced beef keema curry.

Storing- any extra minced curry can be stored in containers. use airtight glass containers as the spices may stain your containers.

Freezing- can be frozen, if you are storing more than a week, separate the minced beef you'll be freezing before adding the coconut milk then freeze it.

Reheating- heat over low medium fire, add a few tablespoons of water to bring the minced curry return to its earlier texture.

Stop food waste by-use any extras to make sandwiches, and make some stuffed rotis or sloppy joes.

RECIPE DIFFICULTY-EASY

How to make minced beef curry.

The ingredients mentioned below use standard measuring cups and spoons.

The ingredients to make minced curry.

4 tablespoons of oil
2 medium onions sliced fine
1 tablespoon of minced ginger(2″ ginger root minced)
2 tablespoons of minced garlic(5 garlic cloves minced)
1-2″ piece cinnamon
3 green banana pepper(substitute with 1 large bell pepper sliced, 3 green chillies chopped)
2 medium tomatoes chopped
700g of minced meat
1/2 a teaspoon of turmeric powder
Salt to season
1 teaspoon of fresh black pepper powder
2 teaspoons of red chilli powder
1 tablespoon of curry powder
1 teaspoon of coriander powder
1/2 a cup of coconut milk(add 1 cup of coconut milk for more gravy)
5-7 cloves of garlic(optional, add if you have a garlic lover who loves eating whole cloves)

Medium

Place a medium-large frying pan over low medium heat.
Pour in the oil(4 tbsp), once the oil heats, add sliced onions(2 medium), minced garlic(2 tbsps, about 5 cloves of garlic)minced, ginger(1 tbsp, about 2″ piece of root minced), cinnamon(1″-2″ piece).

Cook for 3-5 minutes until onions are soft, and ginger, garlic release their aroma.

Add the chopped tomatoes(2 medium).

And chopped banana peppers(3, substitute with 1 large sliced bell pepper or 3 green chillies chopped).
Cook for 3-4 minutes.

Once the tomatoes are soft, add the minced beef(700g)to the pan.

Add turmeric powder(1/2 tsp), and salt to season.

Cook and break down the minced beef while combining all the ingredients in the pan for 5-7 minutes.
Cook until all the moisture is released and cooked through.

Adding additional veggies to the minced curry.

If you are adding cubed potatoes(cut them into smaller cubes so they cook fast), peas, mixed vegetables add them at this point and continue to cook.

Reduce heat to low.

Add black pepper powder(1 tsp), red chilli powder(2 tsp), curry powder(1 tbsp)and coriander powder(1 tsp).

Cook for 3-5 minutes, constantly stir to avoid burning the spices.

Pour in the coconut milk(1/2 a cup if your coconut milk is thick or creamy, add 1/4 cup of water to dilute).

If you are adding extra cloves of garlic(5-7 or more, optional). add them at this point.

Combine the minced curry, taste and season with salt and additional pepper to taste.

Stir and continue to cook for 3-5 minutes.

Remove from stove, rest for 3 minutes serve while still warm.
